Looking forward and folksy friday

It's been a strange old week this week. I finish work next Thursday, so I've been sorting some final files and papers and making lists of contacts etc., for my colleagues. Strangely, I don't feel too sad - I thought I'd be a lot more stressed about it all. I feel excited about the future which is great, although I'll definately miss my work colleagues, especially my lovely job share colleague. I'll keep in touch, so it shouldn't be too upsetting on my last day.

I'm planning and thinking about the future and how to expand my micro business into a small business. I've loads of ideas, I just need to put them into practice and give it a whirl.

So it's the end of the week already, and here's my folksy friday selection, continuing my clothing theme - this week it's jackets, one of my favourite items of clothing. I love the two military style jackets by Alice's Boutique and Fashion Couture. Gaia Noir has some amazing upcycled clothing and accessories - definately worth a look.

Mad as a Hatter

My daughter is busy rehearing for a ballet show - Alice in Wonderland. She's the Mad Hatter. I think secretly she would have liked to have been Alice, but as she has short brown hair, so that was unlikely.

Anyway, I'm now charged with creating a mad hatter costume akin to the Johnny Depp style, which is quite funky. She's needs to be able to dance in it though, which may be tricky.

Her wig has just arrived, it actually looks quite good - it should be for £22. She's wearing the same costume for the whole show, so it's not too bad I don't suppose. If you need a mad hatter wig, I can recommend this online company - The wig came within a few days and is good quality. The only alternative from our local fancy dress shop was more of a clown's wig, which wouldn't have looked as good. We did buy a great hat though for just £7.99 - a real bargain from King's Party Emporium. We just need to cut off the fuzzy orange hair.
I can't wait to watch - she's an amazing dancer and hopes to dance as a career.
She's off to an audition in Manchester this afternoon for a post 16 dance course. Hope I can watch!!

Folksy Friday and more changes

There's a lot of change happening here at the moment. My son moved school a couple of weeks ago and has settled in brilliantly. He loves it, which is great. Even more dramatic, I'm due to finish work in two weeks, after almost 20 years of working at the same organisation. Finito. I've been sorting and shredding at work, and making hand over notes for my colleagues. It strange that after all that time all that's left is a few bits of paper to hand over. BUT, more exciting is that fact that I'll be crafting full time - now the hard work will start as I try to make money from my craft expertise. I have some great ideas - lets hope they work.....

My folksy friday this week continues my 'clothing' theme. This week it's skirts. There are some gorgeous skirts, and here are just a few. As usual, just click on the picture to take you to the folksy shop for more gorgeous items. Don't forget to click the back button to come back to my blog....

Have a lovely weekend - I have some washing on the line today as the sun is out. Hope it stays around for a few days!!
