Craftgawker

I'm so pleased that I've been accepted on craftgawker again. I think I've found the secret to the good quality photography that they insist on. I simply take each photo in the same place as the first photo they accepted. That seems to work - all my photos taken in the same place with the same props have been accepted. There are so many gorgeous images on craftgawker with links to great websites and blogs. I could spend all day gawking......

Here's my submission - my piece of patriotic cake. The link to craftgawker is here - just scroll down the page to find my image and click the little heart to mark it as a favourite. It's also for sale here in my folksy shop and here in my etsy shop.

A Piece of Patriotic Cake

I'm in the process of testing out my latest pattern. This is the part of the design process that can become a little tedious and repetitive. But it's essential to make sure the pattern is correct. I wouldn't want to sell a pattern with mistakes in it.

I'm really pleased with my slice of cake, and I made sure this time that I made notes straight onto the computer as I went along. This turned out much less time consuming than making notes on paper, then transferring my scribbles to the computer.

The pattern will provide different toppings to make four different yummy cake slices.

This pretty little cake slice is listed in my etsy shop here and in my folksy shop here.

Crocheted folksy friday

I've been busy crocheting this week, for a magazine commission - Let's Get Crafting Crochet, issue 23 (July). Can't wait to see my work in print.

So, my folksy friday theme this week is crochet. There are so many gorgeous handmade crocheted items on folksy. So hard to choose, so I narrowed it down to my favourite colour - green.

Let's Knit

This week I was approached by two knitting magazines - Let's Knit and Let's Get Crafting. I love it when this happens, although it usually involved short timescales, and late nights.

Let's Knit want to feature my knitted doughnuts pattern, with a link to my folksy shop. This is great as I really need some publicity, after my re-branding exercise. I'm still not sure if my re-branding was worth it as sales are pretty non-existant at the moment.

Let's Get Crafting have also commissioned me to design a pattern for the next crochet issue. I'm really excited about this, and I've made great start. I'm really pleased with progress so far and the yarn colours sent to me are really nice and look great on my new design. I can't reveal the design yet, but I will, as soon as the mag is published.

I'm also featured in a crochet mini-mag, which is free with this months Crafts Beautiful magazine. One of my cupcakes are on the front cover, yippee....

Here are my donuts for Let's Knit - you can buy the pattern here in my folksy shop (in sterling), or here in my etsy shop (in dollars). These donuts are one of my most popular patterns. They knit up really quickly and I have written instructions for knitting with two straight needles and knitting in the round. I knitted these in the round as I didn't want any seams to be visible for the magazine photo shoot.
